Home game against Clemson, road trip to Florida State highlight SU’s first ACC football schedule, as home, away games are announced

A road trip to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on Florida State and a Carrier Dome showdown with Clemson highlight Syracuse’s first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The home and away schedules for the ACC in 2013 were announced Friday.

SU’s home schedule consists of Boston College, Clemson, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh. The Orange will play its first ACC road games at Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech. The full schedule with times and dates is expected to be announced in early February.

Syracuse joins the ACC in the seven-team Atlantic division and will play current Big East foe Pittsburgh every year as a crossover opponent. Georgia Tech is SU’s other crossover in 2013, though that opponent will rotate in future seasons.

The ACC’s Council of Presidents officially voted to add Syracuse and Pittsburgh on Sept. 18, 2011. The Orange officially joins the conference in July after paying a $7.5 million exit fee to the Big East for leaving within 27 months of announcing its departure from the league.
