The Syracuse University senior struck by an Express Taxi cab Wednesday night remains in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital after sustaining a head injury.

Maria Cristina Sanfeliu-Cruz, a 21-year-old female of Puerto Rico, was hit around 10 p.m that night while crossing the 700 block of Comstock Avenue. Sanfeliu-Cruz is a writing and rhetoric major and is expected to graduate next week.

The driver has been identified as Hussein Mumin, 32.

Sgt. Gary Bulinski of the Syracuse Police Department said investigations are still underway.

‘A full inspection is underway, and we’ll figure out what will happen to the driver once the calculations are done,’ he said. ‘After some reconstruction, they’ll see whether or not it’s his fault.’
