Former Syracuse quarterback Donovan McNabb will formally retire with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, the team announced Sunday.

After a college career as a four-year starter with the Orangemen from 1995-98, McNabb played 11 of his 13 NFL seasons with the Eagles. He played the last two years of his career with the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings respectively but never formally retired.

McNabb was named the Big East offensive player of the decade and the conference player of the year three times. He came in fifth in the 1998 Heisman voting, behind Ricky Williams.

He led the Eagles to four NFC Championship games, the 2005 Super Bowl and was a six-time Pro Bowl selection.

McNabb last played in 2011, appearing in six games for the Vikings.
