FB : Spruill to miss spring practice with lower body injury

Syracuse linebacker Marquis Spruill will miss 2012 spring football practice due to injury. He suffered a lower-body injury that will require surgery, according to a SU Athletics release on Friday.

Spruill will be evaluated throughout the rehabilitation process, and his status for the 2012 season will be announced before preseason camp.

Spruill moved from outside to middle linebacker before the 2011 season, his sophomore year. He played all 12 games last year, finishing fourth on the team with 62 tackles and second with 8.5 tackles for loss. He also recorded three sacks.

The linebacker joins wide receiver Alec Lemon and cornerback Keon Lyn as players who will miss spring practice due to injury. Both Lemon and Lyn had shoulder surgeries.
